INTRODUCTION

Schliersee is a small town and a municipality in the district of Miesbach in Bavaria, Germany. The adjacent Lake - Schliersee - serves as its namesake. The region consists of the localities of Spitzingsee, Westenhofen, Fischhausen, Josefsthal, and Schliersee (town).

It boasts an incredible quality of water, thanks to the installation of a system that removes sewage from the area around the lake. This system was set up and funded by the state of Bavaria with loans and subsidies.

Schliersee is the perfect place to stay for families with children and couples who want a romantic break away together.

There is a multitude of things to do in Schliersee, including cycling, walking, and stand-up paddleboarding.

There is also the cable car up to Wendelstein (a 1,838-metre-high mountain in the Bavarian Alps) and, for those who like to try the local cuisine when they travel, there are a number of picturesque spots in the area ideal for a traditional Bavarian-style family picnic, and a long list of top restaurants with mouth-watering Bavarian food.

THINGS TO DO IN SCHLIERSEE

The activities in Schliersee are endless! If you're a person who likes to do more than just lounge by the pool when you are on vacation, you'll be glad to know that there is a wide range of great adventures to be had here. And if you are traveling with children who also like adventurous vacations, this is an ideal spot.

The stand-up paddleboarding on the lake is a favorite among families who visit the area. There are also great opportunities for swimming and kayaking. A day's excursion to the Eibsee or Walchensee Lakes is also recommended as they are sure to astound you with their natural beauty. You won't believe your eyes when you see how crystal clear the waters are in these places.

Overall, Schliersee is a fantastic place to start your exploration of the Bavarian state.

Let's take a closer look.

1. Enjoy Watersports On Schliersee Lake

While visiting Schliersee, there are many different watersports to experience. Since the water is so motionless and calm, stand-up paddle boarding is highly recommended. If it's something you have never done before, then this is a great place to give it a try. Kayaking is also very popular. Schliersee is also an ideal location for learning to sailboard too - due to the consistent thermal winds.

2. Ride The Cable Car Up The Wendelstein Mountain.

This mountain is 1,838 meters high. Beautiful vistas of lovely Bavarian villages may be seen as the cable car travels seven minutes to the top. While it is possible to hike to the peak, many opt for the cable car ride instead. Weather-permitting, you'll love the awe-inspiring views. A small church and some caves are located at the summit of the mountain. A round-trip cable car ride only costs about 25 Euros per person, and is definitely worth it for the experience.

3. See The Local Alpacas

This should be on your list if you are an animal lover! It's incredible to watch adorable alpacas interact with visitors while eating and playing. The cost of an alpaca encounter is only 10 Euros per person. This activity is made even more wonderful, of course, if you have kids. The alpacas warm up to children very quickly and are extremely friendly towards them - not at all frightened off by visitors.

4. Visit The Lantenhammer Distillery

If you enjoy gin, you should visit this distillery. It was first established in 1928. Numerous gins are available and one in particular is most unique in that, when combined with tonic, it changes color. Whiskey and vodka are also distilled here. They also produce delicious coffee liqueurs. Plus they do a very high quality brandy , which will keep your insides warm if you are traveling here during the winter.

5. Go Horse Riding

The Schliersee region offers a lot of horse trails, taking in the amazing views of the Alpine meadows and the dense forest. If it's not something you've tried before, don't worry. You will even find courses on horse riding for newbies here. If you'd prefer somebody else do the riding, hire a carriage and marvel at the quiet country by-roads. In winter, there are even options to do horse-drawn sleigh rides.
